The accident occurred near Ravivalasa in TekkalI mandal. Floodwater had accumulated at several places in the area due to the cyclone. During this time, the five youths had gone out to catch fish in the floodwater. After fishing, they were crossing the railway track when they were struck by the speeding Rajdhani Express.
The Rajdhani Express was travelling from Bhubaneswar towards Gunupur when the incident occurred. The train hit all five youths while they were crossing the railway track. The impact was severe, and four of them sustained fatal injuries and died at the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Vishakharav, Dileep, Sharath and Shiva. Another youth, identified as Salman Raju, suffered serious injuries. Following the accident, local residents and officials took the injured youth to the TekkalI District Hospital for treatment.
The four youths who died in the accident were reportedly Intermediate students. They were staying at the SC and ST government hostel in TekkalI. All four were said to be residents of Damaru village in TekkalI mandal.

As soon as information about the incident was received, police reached the spot. They inspected the accident site and collected information related to the incident. Preparations were also made to send the bodies of the four deceased youths for post-mortem examination.
Salman Raju, who was seriously injured in the accident, is undergoing treatment at TekkalI District Hospital. Police have started investigating the incident and are examining how the five youths reached the railway track and why they did not notice the approaching train while crossing it.
The incident has left four families in deep shock. The deceased were students living at the government SC and ST hostel in TekkalI while pursuing their studies. Police have confirmed the identities of Vishakharav, Dileep, Sharath and Shiva among the deceased, while Salman Raju remains seriously injured.
After inspecting the site, police initiated the post-mortem process for the bodies. Further details related to the accident are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
